Platoon split leaderboards
Who really hit left-handed pitching? The platoon split leaderboards rank the best single-season performances by handedness matchup: hitters vs left-handed and right-handed pitching, and pitchers vs left-handed and right-handed batters. Every line is one player-season built from Retrosheet play-by-play event data (1912-2025), with era filters so Dead Ball and Modern seasons are never mixed into one ranking.

Where the splits come from
Retrosheet volunteers transcribed every play of every covered game, so each plate appearance carries the handedness of the pitcher and the batter. We aggregate those events per player, season and hand, then compute the rates from the split counts themselves (AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, ISO for hitters; AVG-against and strikeout rate for pitchers). Split leaderboards have no official qualification rule, so each board discloses its own threshold. Players whose careers fall outside 1912-2025 coverage have no split lines on this site, and no split data is ever extrapolated.
Every player with split coverage also gets a career and season-by-season split section on their career page.
